Typography In Motion

Typography In Motion
In this project, typography and motion come together to create three creative and visually appealing animations that are each three seconds long. To create these animation, we were to delve into our first year experiences at GDC university and take those personal experience into our concept planning. Each animation take a letter from GDC and uses that letter to generate and portray a narrative based on our dealings in first year.
PROMPTS
We were given a list of animation prompts to choose from, one prompt for each animation. We chose the prompt erratic, explosive, and fluid. We chose erratic because we associated it with feelings of anxiety and nervousness. We associated feelings of anger, frustration, and desperation with the word explosive, and calm and collectiveness with the word fluid

The animation for G = Erratic
The animation for D = Explosive
The animation for C = Fluid
CONCEPT 1: ERRATIC
For this concept we combined our shared struggle with our health regarding our head/brains. One struggled with migraines and the other struggled with mental health in the beginning of the year. We felt that a pac-man related design portrays erratic because of the jerky and quick movements, which we felt were related to anxiousness and nervousness. The colour palette we chose was a blend of bright colours, which is unexpected, further emphasising erratic behaviour.
CONCEPT 2: EXPLOSIVE
For this concept, we combined our shared frustrations with tech related issues. One had a computer switch off and never switch back on and the other had a computer switching off due to no way of charging or a connection to wifi to keep the computer on during load-shedding. The concept consists of the letter D smashing down on the keyboard in frustration, causing the keys to fly out from under it. The colour palette consists of hot and fire-like colours as we associated explosiveness with fire, heat and aggression.
CONCEPT 3: FLUID
For this concept, we merged our stress coping mechanisms together. To cope with stress, one would bake, and the other would be near water. By combining the two, we came up with the concept of liquid starting as water and the turning into a batter like fluid. The colour palette was inspired by water and the calming association to the colour blue, we found it fitting as the idea behind this concept was that of stress relieving.
